Social Media’s impact on social change

I think that Social Media has already brought change to our society, but I don’t think its positive change. Since everyone now either has a Facebook account or Twitter that how they mostly communicate. Yes, teenagers spend most of their time texting or updating statuses, but with that their social skills have become less and less effective.  The generations of today only know how to interact by typing their feelings or conversations, but when it comes to an interview or have a social interaction face to face, they lack the skills needed.
It has also had somewhat of a positive impact on social change. People who had problems speaking to people before or interacting can now do so through social Media accounts on Facebook or Twitter.  With sites such as YouTube people can post videos of themselves singing or doing stunts, so that everyone can see, and some have become famous thanks to the social media tool.
Social Media is just at the beginning of its run and will develop faster as the years pass. It will bring a big change to the way we interact.

Yesterday’s News vs. News of Today

Back in the day the way we received our news was through newspaper or radio. If you wanted to know what was going on in the world you’d either have to read it or hear it from someone else. The news back then was also just news from your local community or cities close by, it was rare that you heard about news from another province, never the less another country. In today’s society we can hear news from the total opposite side of the world within matter of seconds. It has become an amazing resource for many countries, because when a natural disaster happen’s everyone around the world can see and is able to help the ones in need. Also with the help of social networking, news stations are able to send out warnings for severe weather, which alert people, that has helped many avoid bad weather or so that they can be prepared properly.
Over the years technology has developed more and more, and many different ways of retrieving the local news have emerged. First was watching the news on your television, so every morning, afternoon and night you can sit in front of your TV and listen to the top stories. Then they made it so that you can receive emails about important news updates or retrieve news from the internet. Through today’s generation we can receive news updates and watch broadcasts within seconds on our cellphones, IPod’s and on the internet. We can obtain sports broadcast within seconds anywhere and anytime. Today’s life is always on the go, with work, school, activities, family and friends, so there’s not much time to stop, with the help of social networking the news aworld ahs adapted itself to that lifestyle. I think that social networking has increased the quality of news and how fast we can receive it.

Social Media Fad or Shift

I think that Social Media is the biggest shift since the Industrial Revolution. In a timespan of less than ten years the face of Social Media has changed dramatically. In today's world you can access Social Media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and YouTube from pretty much anywhere and at any time. There are now applications that you can download to your cellphone within minutes to be able to connect directly to your Facebook or Twitter accounts.
Before it was difficult to contact any friends or family members who lived in other provinces or countries but now a days you can chat directly online with someone who lives on the other side of the world. You no longer have to wait around for emails from people, the most commonly used Social Media websites now have an instant messenger where you chat directly and for hours without any interruptions o wait time.
Using your cellphone you can take a picture, and upload it to your Facebook and in a few seconds all your friends and family can access and post comments on it. You no longer have to wait weeks to be able to print and show the pictures you have taken on your camera, they can see anytime, anywhere thanks to Social Media tools.
Overall the revolution of these Social Media tools has evolved and changed the way we socialise among each other, it’s easier to chat online then to pick up the landline and call a friend up.
